Joan brings deep expertise in product commercialization, digital health strategy, marketing and corporate communications, and physician engagement. She has also helped early-stage medtech startups build go-to-market plans and prepare for funding rounds. Whether leading large global teams or advising founders, Joan operates with curiosity, clarity, and strategic intent.
Beyond the boardroom, she is a 200-hour registered yoga teacher with 400+ instructional hours in vinyasa, fitness and restorative styles, and 160+ continuing education hours specializing in functional movement and breathwork for nervous system regulation. She's created unique corporate, studio and community events, incorporating themes and fun playlists. This keeps her centered and human, and brings a balanced mindset, humility and a bit of creative whimsy to the high-stakes world of medtech and biotech leadership.
Joan earned an M.B.A. in marketing from the University of Minnesota, published four peer-reviewed journal articles while a molecular biology research associate at University of California, San Francisco, and holds an undergraduate degree in genetics from the University of California, Berkeley. She has completed professional development courses in Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare, marketing strategy, digital marketing, branding, corporate events and tradeshows, leadership and culture, and has hired, mentored and coached marketing, sales and communications professionals.

His work includes strategic planning, finance and strategy deployment, business and operations management as well as manufacturing, engineering and supply chain management roles. He led the manufacturing scale-up and commercialization of an electro-magnetic motor technology at Bose Corporation where he gained financial management, business systems implementations experience and developed his leadership skills. More recently he combined his operations, engineering and business development experience to help a university start-up commercialize a solar technology.
John’s corporate and lean start-up experience combined with his disciplined engineering mind set enables quick transitions from high level business thinking to working within the details for implementing strategy and driving change. He has used the balanced scorecard approach to connect vision and strategy to the tactical day-to-day business activities. He focuses on continuous improvement through analyzing processes and operating expenses to simplify work flow and manage costs.
He earned a mechanical engineering and public policy degree from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota. He has lived and worked throughout the US and embraces the unique lifestyle and experiences within each region. He is active in the community and has held numerous volunteer roles ranging from youth soccer to boy scouts to entrepreneurial mentoring. John currently lives in Tucson, AZ where he enjoys the surrounding mountains and takes advantage of the 350 + days of sunshine!
